Well, it started in December 2024 when I realized that the worried, nagging feeling i've had for years was possibly money, and that turned my thinking to pensions. Like many people, I had just left it to be what it was and did not want to see the reality.
We had a lovely Christmas and then in early January 2025, I watched a YouTube short by Mark Tilbury saying how he invests in stocks and shares. Again, like most people I suspect, I have always been wary of this and put my savings in those accounts where you put in £100 per month for 1 year and you 6% interest and then try and find another one the next year. I thought I was doing good but even I knew deep down this wasn't a great return. There had to be a better way.
I am an inquisitive type of person and like to learn and understand as much as I can about anything that I am interested in, I once learnt to play a song on the guitar in a single night having not played before but that's another story. So I set down the path to see what information is out there. YouTube is a great source of information and pretty much straight away I found Damien . This is a great channel to watch as while giving you a load of information to think about he tells a great story. His 40+ minute videos fly by and are a joy to watch. Check out his podcast videos with his mate as well as they talk to people across various industries and have so much knowledge to share.
Time moved on a couple of weeks and, many videos later, I had learnt so much from simple things, that everyone should know but probably don't, to more complex areas about money management. With all this information I have made positive changes to my money management and retirement planning. While doing this, I have been informing friends to look at theirs, but like me back in 2024, some didn't know where to start. The idea was put to me by one of them, cheers Danny, that I should build a website as that's what I do. Build Yes, design No. I was planning on doing something to remind future me how to do all this again, so build a website I have. While this is for me please use at your own discretion to help you to find your answers.
Other notable mentions for sources of information during this time are Pension Craft . Very knowledgeable and technical to the point where I have to give my full attention to what is said.
Use this website for information only and, I can not stress this enough, do not take it as financial advice.
I am not a financial adviser.
I am a software engineer.
I am not responsible for any financial decisions you make.
I am not liable for any financial losses you may incur.
There are plenty of Financial Adviser's out there if you need one.
